Estimate before using mobile data
Enter the running time and an estimated average bitrate. The calculation converts megabits into decimal gigabytes. It is a planning estimate, not a measured download size or a promise about a named movie. Adaptive playback can change bitrate during a film, and other network traffic adds to total use.
What the number means
At an average 5 megabits per second, a 120-minute video is approximately 4.5GB before additional overhead. The formula is bitrate × minutes × 60 ÷ 8 ÷ 1,000. It assumes a steady average across the chosen duration. A 1080p label does not supply that average automatically.
Leave some room
Use the service's own data estimate when it publishes one. Allow for updates, messages, other apps and changes in playback quality. If you plan to download for offline use, the app's displayed file size is more specific than a general streaming calculation. See offline viewing before a journey.
